Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe for iMessage (shown as "Ultimate" in Messages)
This policy covers the iMessage app only.
Effective date: September 25, 2026
The app collects no data. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no third-party code. Your moves travel as iMessages, the same way your texts do.
Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe is a two-player game played inside Apple's Messages app. It is an iMessage app only: there is no separate Home Screen app.
None. The app has:
The app makes no network connections of its own, and we do not operate any server for it. Nothing on our end can receive your data from the app, so none of it is collected, stored, shared, or sold.
Each move is encoded into the iMessage the app sends. The message holds the moves played so far, the time the game was started (used to draw the board), and, for each of the two players, a short code made from the anonymous identifier described below, so each device can tell which side is its own. That code cannot be turned back into the identifier. The message is delivered by Apple's iMessage service like an ordinary text and is visible only to the people in your conversation. Apple's handling of iMessage is described in Apple's privacy policy.
The app never sees who your contacts are. Messages identifies the people in a conversation to the app only by anonymous identifiers, which change if the app is reinstalled. The app uses them only to work out which side, X or O, is yours, and they are never sent anywhere except in that short code.
The app keeps one small record on your device: which side is yours in your most recent games (up to 256 of them), so you stay the same player if Messages hands the app a new identifier. It never leaves your device and is removed when you delete the app.
When a game is over, "Copy code" puts a link to it on your clipboard. The app does not send it anywhere; you choose whether to share it. The link contains only the moves of the game and the time it was started, which is used to draw the board. It says nothing about who played.
The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
If the app changes what it does with data, we will update this page and its effective date.
